Summer Camp Information | Covid-19
Dear Camp Families,
First let me thank you for your kind emails, support and patience as we all kept our fingers crossed that we could make Camp 2020 happen. We are so excited to share that it's official, we will be having Camp this summer! We have all had to endure some challenging times this spring and the Campers deserve to have some summer FUN!
We will be following the CDC and state guidelines published under Phase 2 of the Reopening Massachusetts state plan. This will make Camp look and feel different this year, but we feel confident that we can still provide an active, fun experience for your child this summer. It is our hope that as we move through summer and through to the next phase of the reopening plan some restrictions will be eased.
Below is a list of changes we have had to make to meet guidelines as well as offer the best Camp experience possible. Please read them over carefully so you know what to expect.
Camp will begin on July 6, 2020. Session One (June 22nd - July 3rd) will not be offered. Campers currently signed up for those 2 weeks will be refunded. If your child is signed up for week one and/or two ONLY, and you would like to change to weeks later in the summer, please let us know ASAP as spots are limited.
It greatly saddens us that we cannot offer Jr. Outing Camp this summer, as field trips are not allowed. Anyone currently enrolled in Jr. Outing will be refunded.
We feel that Campers who have not yet attended Kindergarten will struggle understanding and following social distancing guidelines. Best practices will not allow us to be as nurturing as we feel the younger Campers need in order to be successful. Due to this safety concern, we have made the difficult decision to limit registration to Campers entering first grade through age twelve.
The guidelines state that the same Counselors must remain with the same Campers and may not combine with any other group. Because of this guideline we will not be offering extended hours. The Camp day will run from 8:45 -3:45. If you are currently enrolled in extended hours, that option will be removed, and the account will be credited or refunded.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to travel up to Cedardale to use any of the facilities. We will remain at the Cedarland location for all activities.
The RockWall and SkyWalk Ropes Course at Cedarland Fun Center involve sharing harnesses and poses too high of a risk. Therefore, they will not be part of our Camp programming this summer.
The pool can be used and swimming lessons will be taught, but social distancing will be required.
Sport games and tournaments where contact may occur are not yet allowed. So we will run, play and work on different sport skills - being active outdoors while keeping social distance. Masks will not be required outdoors unless social distancing is not possible.
Campers will be in groups of 10. If siblings are within one grade of another and want to be together please let us know and we will arrange that. Otherwise, groups will be assigned by age/grade. The same Campers and Counselors must remain together each day. Groups cannot mix.
Drop off and pick up will be staggered (additional directions for this to follow at a later date) and we will have a daily screening process in place. We will be greeting you in the parking lot, as parents will not be allowed in the building. Staff, Campers and Parents should have cloth face coverings/masks on during drop off and pick up times.
Guidelines recommend cloth face coverings/masks be worn by Counselors and Campers who are old enough to safely and correctly wear them, when 6 feet social distancing isn't possible. Masks will not be required while eating, swimming, or most times outside. If while indoors spacing is an issue masks may be worn. Campers should have one in their backpack daily.
Any Camper with a high risk medical condition or living with someone in that category should carefully consider if this Camp environment, even with our "best practices " in place, will be a safe choice for this year.
This summer it will be more important than ever for us to communicate with parents. Please make sure to keep an eye out for emails from us. Additional information will follow soon with instructions for best practices to practice with your Camper before they begin Camp and more.
Although we will be forced to change some of our Camp traditions, we are ready to make some new ones. Camp is a perfect environment to get creative and find new ways of doing things. Having smaller groups will allow us all to get to know each other better. We can't wait to start the fun and hope your Camper is ready to join us for a terrific summer adventure!
Beginning on June 22nd, your Camp registration will be "locked in", and we will be running the first of our scheduled payments. Please reach out to us with any changes you'd like to make to your account before June 22nd. Updating all of the Camp accounts to reflect the changes listed above will take time. We appreciate your patience.
