Lifeguard Certification + Recertification Courses
Lifeguard Certification Course
Participants must be at least 15 years old and able to complete the following
- swim 300 yards continuously consisting of 200 yards of crawl stroke with rhythmic breathing and a propellant kick (breathing can be to the side or front) and 100 yards breaststroke
- swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke surface dive a depth of 7 - 10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object and return to surface swimming 20 yards back to starting point with object. Object must be carried in both hands and your face must remain above water in a time of 1minute and 40 seconds
- participant must attend all sessions listed to complete training.
Those meeting the above requirements and receiving a passing grade on the exam will receive Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding, Water Safety, First Aid, AED, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Course is open to Cedardale Members and Non Members.

Lifeguard Recertification Course
The purpose of this recertification course is to provide individuals with the opportunity to demonstrate their skill and knowledge competency without needing to repeat the full certification course. The participant has the responsibility in preparing for the test prior to the class. Individuals with a current Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED or Shallow Water Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificate must successfully participate and complete the review course in order to earn recertification in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED or Shallow Water Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.
